Ahead of the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in Canada, the US, and Mexico, the countdown is underway. With a total of 16 host cities spread across the three countries, this will be the first World Cup with 48 teams. On June 11, the action is scheduled to begin in Mexico City's Azteca Stadium. In the meantime, the championship game is scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The 1986 World Cup final was played at the Azteca Stadium, where Diego Maradona's Argentina team won their second World Cup. The other two locations in Mexico will be in Guadalajara and Monterrey.


Canada will feature two locations, in Toronto and Vancouver, at opposite sides of the nation. Five group stage matches, including the nation's first group match on June 12, will take place in Toronto.

Los Angeles is one of eight American cities that will host the United States' campaign kickoff on June 12; the other cities are Boston, Kansas City, Philadelphia, New York, Houston, Seattle, and San Francisco.
